James Dyson, acclaimed innovator of vacuum cleaners, has received a knighthood in the honours list.
Dyson, who claims it took 5,126 attempts to get his famous bagless design to work effectively, heads a company worth $1bn and employs 1,400 people in the UK, and a further 4,000 in China.
