Production at the Longbridge car plant is to resume, but on a much smaller scale than hoped. 200 jobs will be created by new owners Nanjing Automobile of China.
The new employees will be tasked with assembling the MG TF from component kits shipped in from a factory in China. It is estimated that 15,000 cars a year will roll off the UK production lines for sale in Europe.
Longbridge forms part of Nanjing’s overall strategy to assemble MG cars on three continents, with the plant in China serving Asia and a new plant in Oklahoma serving North America.
